Business Name Registration in Cyprus
A business name registration is mostly used by individuals instead of corporations.
Registering a Business Name in Cyprus allows you to operate and trade through such business name without the need of incorporating a legal entity. Such business name may be registered with VAT and other authorities as an independent name, representing you.
A "business name" allows you to trade as private individual but through a business name and as such, issue offers, receipts and other official documents using your registered business name. It does not constitute a trade mark nor a legal entity.
For example, Mr. John Smith is a plumber who operates his business as a private individual. He does not really need a company. He may register a business name as "Plumber Master" and he may register this name with the VAT authorities etc.
Payments received are subject to personal income tax and not to corporate income tax.
The time needed for the registration of a business name varies from one to two months depending to the work load of the Registrar.
